It looks like Lionel Messi got a little unfriendly during a friendly between AS Roma and FC Barcelona. During a stop in play Messi was seen approaching Roma’s Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and their foreheads met. Messi then pushed forward with his forehead before grabbing him by his throat.
This certainly is an interesting altercation and we’ll have to wait till later to find out what started it. Given Messi’s usually less than confrontational demeanor, it makes you wonder what Yanga-Mbiwa did.
As Messi approaches, Yanga-Mbiwa already has his head down, which makes you wonder if that was in preparation for a confrontation with Messi or whether he was simply looking down when Messi approached. As Messi puts his hand on his throat Yanga-Mbiwa seems relatively calm and confused.
